Category A Hydrographic Surveying
Professional Certification
After completing the Category A Programme, graduates will require further industry experience to receive certification with the New Zealand Institute of Surveyors, or the Spatial Sciences Institute (Australia). This involves a period of 24 months of supervised field experience in hydrographic surveying, at least 50% of which must be afloat. Certification can then be given by the Australasian Hydrographic Surveyor's Certification Panel at Level 1 (See www.surveyors.org.nz/hydrographic ), which is recognized in both Australia and New Zealand for Professional Membership of NZIS and SSI.
