IThe School of Surveying is located in its own specifically designed refurbished building, co-residing with the Department of Marine Science. It contains three lecture rooms (60 seat capacity), a seminar room, postgraduate student study space, a PC computer laboratory, a spatial information laboratory, drawing/work room, photogrammetry room, photographic darkroom, survey store and specialist laboratories. The School is well equipped with current terrestrial survey equipment, hand held and geodetic GPS receivers and analytical photogrammetric equipment. It also has a rooftop multi-pillar baseline and operates a permanent GPS base station capable of real time RTK and DGPS positioning. After-hours access to the departmental facilities is available for all postgraduate students.
The Department of Marine Science also operates a separate laboratory at Portobello.
