Inland Waters Hydrography
Hydrographic surveying is as important in fresh water as it is in the world's salt-water seas, and oceans. The mapping of inland waters is carried out under the same range of disciplines that operate offshore though it often presents its own, sometimes unique, sets of circumstances. Hydraulic engineering; flood plane mapping; dam and reservoir surveys; erosion and sedimentation are some of the areas in which hydrographers may be involved.
