Profile
Phil graduated from the University of Otago with a BSurv (with Credit) in 1982 and post registration worked for some of Aucklands larger multidiscipline survey and engineering consultancy practices. A short stint at Auckland City Council handling subdivision consent applications was followed by 6 years with Tse Group where as an Associate, he became increasingly interested and involved in the design of land development projects as a speciality skill. Phil eventually joined Hopper Developments Ltd as Design Manager where he was involved in the design of a wide variety of projects including Whitianga Waterways on the Coromandel, Marsden Cove canal development in Whangarei, and contributed to a number of urban planning initiatives on behalf of the company. Following this he spent 6 months in Mexico as Development Manager on an extensive resort project and has recently returned to New Zealand from Dubai where he was a Development Manager with Nakheel working on The Palm Jebel Ali.
Phil has always been involved in the NZ Institute of Surveyors in some capacity since registration and was Chairman of the Auckland Branch for three years, convener of the 1991 Auckland Conference, a member of the Education Committee and was a member of the Institute of Surveyors Council during 2007 and 2008. His current interests include urban design and is a member of the Urban Design and Sustainability Working Group and a Councillor of the NZ Institute of Surveyors.
