SURV302 Geodetic Reference Systems and Network Analysis
This course provides an introduction to spherical astronomy, geometric geodesy, and physical geodesy including height networks. Error propagation through the least squares process including errors in two and three dimensions, network pre-analysis, and network post-analysis. Introduction to Kalman Filtering.
Cource Objectives
- To understand the basic concepts of geometric and physical geodesy.
- To understand height systems and height determination.
- To be able to use spherical trigonometry to solve practical problems.
- To be able to determine azimuth from time and altitude observations to the sun and stars.
- To provide the mathematical and statistical tools for analysing the outcomes of least squares adjustments.
